Waters: “Will call for Feds to investigate handling of absentee ballots & votes in 13th Congressional District race”

(Detroit,MI 8/8/2024)-Detroit City Council Member At-Large Mary Waters, a candidate for the Democratic nomination for 13th Congressional District in Michigan, says that she will be calling upon the United States Department of Justice to investigate the handling of absentee ballots and vote counting in Tuesday’s primary election for Democratic Party nominee for 13th District Congressional Representative.

“Something is wrong with the length of time it took to count those absentee ballots and votes in Detroit,” said Waters. “The Detroit Clerk had extra days to handle and count absentee ballots and couldn’t get it done in a timely manner?” asked Waters.

“Did not 10,000 absentee ballots coming in at one time raise suspicion that something might be amiss? What was the methodology employed to verify those signatures?” asks Waters noting that recent fraudulent signatures demand extraordinary precautions.

“ I will be asking the United States Department of Justice to investigate the handling of absentee ballots and vote counting in Tuesday’s (August 6,2024) primary election for Democratic Party nominee for 13th District Congressional Representative,” said Waters.

“We certainly deserve answers before November’s presidential election,” said Waters.

Mary Waters represents more Black voters than any other Black woman in Michigan holding a municipal office with budgetary oversight because Waters is one of only two council members that represent the entire City of Detroit beyond a district.

Waters, a Breast Cancer Survivor and graduate of the University of Michigan, was the first Black woman to serve as Dem Floor Leader when Waters served in the Michigan House of Representatives where Waters had a perfect attendance record and served as then state representative Gretchen Whitmer’s floor leader.

Mission

Councilwoman Mary Waters has received a significant endorsement from Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan in her bid for the 13th District Congressional seat. The is a major boost for Waters' campaign, as Duggan is a highly respected figure in Detroit politics. Waters has been a dedicated public servant for many years, and her experience and commitment to the community make her an excellent candidate for the position. With Duggan's endorsement, Waters is well-positioned to succeed in the upcoming election.

Waters: “I support President Biden unconditionally so should Detroit”

(Detroit, MI 7/10/2024)-Detroit City Council Member At-Large Mary Waters says that she unconditionally supports Joe Biden to be the

Democratic Party nominee for president.

“It is utter madness for the Democratic Party to be played by media pundits who themselves read their news from teleprompters but object to Biden doing the same,” said Waters

“I had close contact with President Biden recently here in Michigan at UAW Region 1 and the President was great one on one. I urge Detroit to join the millions of democracy loving Americans that have already voted for Biden to be the Democratic Party nominee,” said Waters.

“Those objecting to Biden are a manifestation of an ever widening class and racial divide within the Democratic Party. The dictatorial practices of the donor class and their minions is what really threatens a Democratic victory in November not Joe Biden.

I support this President unconditionally and so should Detroit.  President Biden has supported us by creating jobs, lowering prescription drug prices, supporting unions and protecting our hard won civil rights and much more,” said Waters.

Waters asks Congress Ethics Office to investigate Shri force repayment of ad money

(Detroit, MI 6/11/2024) -  Detroit City Council Member At Large Mary Waters who is seeking the Democratic nomination for the 13th Congressional District seat currently held by Shri Thanedar has submitted a formal request to the Office of Congressional Ethics asking for an investigation into Thanedar’s spending of office funds designated for constituent services instead being used for “political ads”.

“Shri’s thinly veiled political ads represent a clear violation of the purpose of U.S. taxpayer funding for the operation of Congressman Thanedar’s office. Congressman Shri Thanedar should immediately repay American taxpayers all dollars allocated for legitimate office expenses but misused for tawdry political purposes that actually glorify the congressman more than effectively assist Michigan 13th Congressional District constituents of which I am one,” said Waters.

“Through a formal “submission” I have today requested that the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) investigate Shri Thanedar’s gross abuse of privileges accorded members of Congress and implored OCE to move expeditiously on this misappropriation of taxpayer dollars as the price of groceries, gasoline and everything else skyrockets for American taxpayers.

The only remedy for this arrogant abuse of congressional office funding is to require that Congressman Shri Thanedar repay every damn cent of what is now approaching $1 million dollars in self aggrandizing poorly produced political reelection ads that do not help constituents of Michigan’s 13th Congressional District,” said Waters.
